This month has been flying by and we have been busy! This month, the students have focused on a beaver inquiry project. They have focused on adaptations of the beaver and what it does in the winter. The students have continued to work on counting by 2s and 10s. They are also practicing counting to 100! The children have been working on writing simple sentences independently on a variety of topics. This week we have introduced our Gingerbread Man unit. We are focusing on learning how to retell a story by using pictures, constructing a Gingerbread house out of cardboard and learning about our 5 senses through a eating a ginger snap cookie!

Valley View Food Drive: December 4 – 8, 2017
It’s time again for Valley View’s annual food drive! From December 4th to 8th, students will be bringing non-perishable food to school to help address hunger on a local level. Supporting the Calgary Food Bank is the perfect way to participate in the spirit of the season. When making your donation please think about the non-perishable food in your own home. What do you usually buy and use? Those items often make the best donations. It’s helpful for donors to double check the expiry dates on items they bring in. See below for a list of non-perishable food needed: Cereal Peanut butter Pancake mix Syrup Canned meat (ham, turkey) Canned fish Canned fruit Canned vegetables (corn, peas, carrots, mixed vegetables) Stuffing mix Cranberry sauce (whole berry) Soup (tomato, cream of mushroom, chicken noodle, chunky-style soups & stews, dry packaged soups, canned chili) Pasta sauce (tomato based) Juice Brown Beans Dry Pasta Baby Food
Dear parents and guardians,

If you have any further questions about your child's learning, please feel free to set up with a meeting with us or email us at [email protected] or [email protected]. Have a wonderful weekend! Dear Parents and Guardians,
On November 16th & 17th, we will be having parent -teacher conferences. To book a time, please go to the Valley View homepage and click on My CBE Account. Once you log in you'll be able to pick a time that works best for you. During these 15 minute appointments, Miss. Hansen and I will be focusing our chat on how your child is showing citizenship, personal development, and character through their learning. We feel that it is important that you understand how your child is approaching and engaged in their learning. We are looking forward to meeting with you! If you need any help in booking a time, please call the school office at 403-777-8250 or feel free to email Miss Vass at [email protected] or Miss. Hansen at [email protected] and let us know what time works best for you. Dear Parents and Guardians,
It appears that Calgary is entering a cold, wintery spell. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Students are outside from 7:45 - 8, 9:50 - 10:01 and 12:10 - 12:46. Also, for safety reasons if your child is wearing a scarf to school, please teach them how to tuck it into their coat before zipping it up. We appreciate your help in making sure your child is warm and safe! |
